Navigation Logic

How this site’s navigation responds to routes, screen sizes, headings, and scrolling. These Mermaid diagrams describe the current implementation.

Top bar

The left control follows the route. The center follows the page title’s position, independently of whether scrolling has started.

Actions and Contents

Search, Share, and View Source stay inline when space allows. Nested pages with visible section headings use a Contents trigger, including before scrolling.

Inside Contents

The panel uses rendered heading anchors, excludes disclosure triggers, and tracks the current section while open. The sheet breakpoint is 1024px, while actions move into it only below 640px.

Bottom navigation

Bottom navigation is mobile-only. It appears on the five main destinations and eligible pages one level below them; writing articles and deeper routes use article navigation instead.

Scroll and appearance

The top bar stays sticky. Its background changes as soon as scrolling starts; the floating back-to-top control follows scroll direction on lab and writing articles.
